Georgetown House offers affordable lodging in the heart of Georgetown and along the scenic C&O Canal. The story of the Georgetown House is one of history and undeniable charm. Originally, this two-story building was constructed by the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company to be utilized as a storage room around the 1830s. Later on, this building became a tavern but shortly thereafter turned into a stable for mules who pulled the cargo up and down the canal. The drivers lived above. The Georgetown House still houses some of this historic charm in its small quaint rooms, rickety wooden floor boards, and small balcony overlooking the canal.
